Permits and Licenses
Animal Adoption and License Application
After a small period of time, animals are available for adoption through the City for a fee which includes cost for food that the animal was given during its time at the shelter, a pet license and a rabies shot, which is provided by a local veterinarian. The Animal Shelter does not spay or neuter animals.
Board of Adjustment Application
As required by the state, the City Board of Adjustment exercises the following powers: to hear and decide appeals from any order, requirement, decision or determination made by the Joint Airport Zoning Board, to hear and decide special exceptions and to hear and decide specific variances.
Building Permit
A building permit is a license, which grants legal permission to start construction of a building project. Permits allow the enforcement of the codes which have been adopted as law by a state, county, township or city. The enforcement of codes is carried out to protect the public health, safety and welfare of the citizens.
Burn Permit
According to city ordinance, an application for open burning shall be submitted in writing no less than five days, nor more than 14 days, before the fire is set.
Buy a Bench Application
The City of Tahlequah invites residents, businesses and local organizations to purchase a park bench to be placed throughout local parks and trail areas. The Buy a Bench Program provides the opportunity for our community to honor a loved one or honor a person or organization.
Carnival Permit Application
At least 15 days prior to the regular monthly meeting of the City Council, which is the first Monday of each month, prior to the opening performance of any carnival, an application shall be filed with the City Clerk.
Contractor License
No person, firm or corporation shall construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move or demolish a building or structure within the City of Tahlequah for which a permit is required, unless a City of Tahlequah building contractor's license has been issued.

Demolition Permit Application
Demolition is defined as the deliberate destruction of a building or other structure. A Land Disturbing Permit (under one acre) is required with this application.
Fire Alarm Project Permit
The Chief shall adopt all prudent measures for the prevention of fires and shall examine fireplaces, flues or other property or apparatus likely to cause fire.
Fire Sprinkler Project Permit
The Chief shall adopt all prudent measures for the prevention of fires and shall examine fireplaces, flues or other property or apparatus likely to cause fire.
Firework Sales Permit
The Chief shall adopt all prudent measures for the prevention of fires and shall examine fireplaces, flues or other property or apparatus likely to cause fire.
Floodplain and Development Permit Application
A permit is required before construction of development begins within any Special Flood Hazard Area.
Garage Sale Permit
A Garage Sale Permit is required for residential sales. These permits allow a sale to be held for three consecutive days and are restricted to two sales a year at the same address or location, one every six months.

Inspection Permit Application (Building, Plumbing, Electrical, Mechanical)

Inspections and the enforcement of codes is carried out to protect the public health, safety and welfare of the citizens.
Itinerant Vendor License
An itinerant vendor is defined as a vendor having no regular place of doing business in the City of Tahlequah and includes, but is not limited, making regular delivery or providing goods over an established route through the City.
Land Disturbing Permit
A land disturbing permit shall be obtained for any construction activities causing land disturbance on a parcel of any size within the city limits.
Lot Split Application
All applicants desiring to split a lot in an existing subdivision must obtain a lot split application and approval form. The application must have attached a sketch, plat, record of survey, or other information which clearly identifies the lot split including dimensions, and square footage of all lot portions being split.
Liquor License (Mixed Beverage, Retail Package)
All occupation taxes levied expire on Sept. 30 of each year. The amount of any occupation tax levied shall be computed pro rata upon the months remaining in the year ending Sept. 30 following. Such taxes paid on or before the 15th day of any month shall be on the basis of the first day of the month, and such taxes paid after the 15th day of any month shall be on the basis of the first day of the next succeeding month.
Mobile Home Permit Application
A permit is required to maintain or operate any manufactured home park, mobile home park, or travel trailer park within the City of Tahlequah unless they hold a valid license issued annually by the City.
Occupational License
This is an annual permit businesses, and new businesses, are required to obtain by January 31 of every year.
Outdoor Parklet Application
The City of Tahlequah recognizes that our business community is continually seeking ways to improve the environment for commerce and wishes to help this process by responding to requests for new and innovative ways to improve their businesses.

The Chief shall adopt all prudent measures for the prevention of fires and shall examine fireplaces, flues or other property or apparatus likely to cause fire.
Plat Application and Subdivision Plat Application
The Preliminary Plat review provides a mechanism for the City of Tahlequah to review an overall plan for a proposed subdivision to ensure compliance with the City Ordinance, as well as to ensure that there are adequate infrastructure and facilities to serve the proposed subdivision.
Plumbing, Electrical or Mechanical Permit Application
According to Section 105 of code regulations, these individual permits are required when a person is only doing one of the three.
Pool Permit
Similar to a land disturbing permit, a pool permit shall be obtained for any construction activities causing land disturbance on a parcel of any size within the city limits.
Sign Permit
The purpose of obtaining a sign permit is to protect property values, to encourage the most appropriate use of land, to secure safety in the streets, to achieve a more desirable living environment, to protect and enhance the attractiveness of the City of Tahlequah and generally to promote the public safety and welfare.
Street Cut Permit
No person shall excavate, dig in, alter or change or interfere with any street, avenue, alley, sidewalk, pavement, curbing or other public ground or surface within the City of Tahlequah unless a permit is obtained.
Vacant Residence Exemption Application
Any owner of an unoccupied or vacant residential property that receives Solid Waste services by the City of Tahlequah and who is assessed fees and charges at residential rates, shall be entitled to a temporary exemption from the payment of such fees and charges for a period not to exceed three months during any 12-month period that shall start at the first day of the first exemption requested and provided that no exemption shall be allowed for any residence if vacant for less than a 30-day period.
