Public Education

We can all contribute to creating a safer world by increasing our knowledge of fire safety and education. The Tahlequah Fire Department is dedicated to providing the community with public education on basic fire safety tips and evacuation plans. In addition, they offer tours of the station to inform residents about the services provided by the fire department and how they work to ensure the safety of area residents during emergency situations.  Contact them if your class is interested in doing a tour or having a fire safety class!

Fire Safety Month

During the month of October, the Tahlequah Fire Department dedicates its efforts to educating thousands of local residents on fire safety. The primary objective of Fire Safety Month is to provide valuable information and increase awareness to ensure that families have a well-developed fire safety plan in place.

According to the National Fire Protection Association, it is recommended that homes have smoke alarms strategically placed inside every bedroom, outside each sleeping area, and on every level of the house, including the basement. This ensures maximum protection and early detection in the event of a fire.
